A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I'm Jennifer Barrette, a bestselling author, storyteller, writer, creator, entrepreneur, wife, mother of four, and the founder of GET REAL ABOUT™.

I've spent much of my life telling stories, from nonfiction to middle-grade fiction and children's books, because I've always been fascinated by people and the stories that make us who we are. GET REAL ABOUT™ became a natural extension of that curiosity, only this time, instead of creating the characters, I started listening to real people tell me their stories.

The less tidy version of my bio is probably more relevant here. I've been divorced and remarried. I've raised four children. I've built businesses, written books, started over, changed direction, made mistakes and learned plenty of things later than I probably should have. I've loved people, lost people and watched my parents get older, eventually becoming the person they call when something is wrong, confusing, medically concerning, beeping or simply refusing to dispense ice from the refrigerator.

I'm still figuring things out too.

And that's important, because GET REAL ABOUT™ isn't being built from a pedestal.

I'm not standing at the finish line yelling instructions back at everyone else. I'm right here in the middle of life with you. In fact, one of the biggest surprises of spending five years writing GET REAL ABOUT™ GRIEF was realizing that somewhere along the way, I needed the book too.
